I am a huge huge fan of the Manmohan Desai School of film making. David Dhawan is still walking on his path, Priyadarshan is on a success spree with his kind of films & now Anees Bazmee joins the ranks of these film makers. His last two films Welcome & No Entry were huge hits & I am sure he will score a hat trick with this one. The screenplay is structured on a very flimsy story line but it is written to entertain. The audience it caters to is not the people who want some intellectual film but for people who want to watch great cinema but still want their Indian masala from time to time.
Singh Is Kinng is primarily aimed at the audience who wants entertainment at any cost. It’s filled with some very interesting characters & lots of fun scenes. The dialogues suit the characters & film to the T, it is one mad cap comedy with doses of action, romance & drama. The film doesn’t take itself seriously I suggest you also don’t. Vipul Shah recently commented that “you can bring your brains to watch this film because it’s not a brainless comedy”. Sorry to disagree. It is a brainless comedy but it is aware of it & that’s the reason it’s a fun watch. It doesn’t disguise itself as a film that could change your life & take Hindi cinema forward. The star of the show is undoubtedly Akshay Kumar. Without him the film wouldn’t be half as good as it is now. Never ever does he makes you feel how big a box – office star he is but gets into the skin of his character infusing incredible charm & honesty in his role. He is there in almost all the scenes but still you can’t get enough of him. Jaaved Jaafrey stands out as the almost blind & half deaf goofy sardar. Katrina & Neha provides the required glam quotient in the film. They have nothing much to do in the film. Sonu Sood surprises in his first comic role. Om Puri, Kamal Chopra, Manoj Pahwa, Sudanshu Pandey & Yashpal Sharma provide able support to the film. They are a right example of a fine supporting cast. The music fits into the narrative without hampering the flow of the screenplay. Wish the song teri ore would have been kept in it’s entirety.
Final Few Words: Dil Agar Sachcha Ho Toh Rab Sab Kar De Setting. Kumar is king, Kumar is king, Kumar is king. Is film ka dil sachcha hai aur box –office par iski setting pakki hai.

Bachna Ee Haseeno
What an apt title to describe the star of the film. Bachna Ae haseeno Ranbir aa gaya. Yashraj has found their new Raj in Ranbir. Yeh ladka toh killer hai. He oozes charisma in every frame, emotions are his strength & stardom is in his genes. Ranbir Kapoor makes every moment of Bachna a paisa vasool experience. Whether it is comedy, romance, drama, dance. Except action he has done everything what is required of a typical Hindi film hero. If some people thought Saawariya’s failure at the box office will affect Ranbir they were wrong.
Bachna is a journey of a boy who becomes a man & Siddharth Anand has skillfully weaved a charming & wonderful screenplay around it. It has the ultimate yashraj favorite location Switzerland plus the hangover of ddlj, Punjab di khusbu, italy ka darshan aur Sydney ke maze. The story by Aditya Chopra travels through these countries and an explores another dimension of love. Dialogues are witty and belong to the characters. Minishha is cute in the 1st half and delivers a mature performance in the 2nd half her best after yahaan. Bipasha looks HOT AS HELL & surprisingly shines in the emotional scenes in which I always thought she falters. Deepika is charming in her 2nd film but doesn’t have a stronger role than the other girls. Ranbir & Deepika’s chemistry is sizzling. Hiten Patel makes his presence felt in an otherwise crowded scenario. But the man who takes away all the credit is Ranbir. You have to see him to believe me. Without him this film wouldn’t have been half as good as it is now. After the disaster called ta ra rum pum Siddharth Anand outshines himself with this one. This is his best film yet. He puts in all the ingredients which is required for a mainstream Hindi film but doesn’t forget the most important thing which is a good story.
Final Few Words: if you haven’t added Ranbir in your favorites list yet I am sure after watching this you will. Have a great weekend at the movies. If you don’t like this film then I think you should stop watching Hindi movies for some time.
